Expertise & Practice Areas
I have broad experience in civil litigation in trial and appellate courts, from commercial litigation to medical malpractice and much in between — including general personal injury, family law, and defamation (among other areas). My particular expertise lies in the following areas.
Business Disputes
I have extensive experience litigating business disputes small and large — contract disputes as well as alleged accounting fraud, securities and commodities fraud class actions, and product-liability mass tort litigation, among other types of disputes.
Insurance Bad Faith
Insurance bad faith is a special type of business dispute. When insurance companies fail to honor their obligations to their policyholders or insureds, the companies may be liable for the harm their failure caused. Insurance bad-faith lawsuits seek to hold the insurance company accountable.
I spent five years (2013-18) focused exclusively on insurance bad-faith cases with a specialist in the area – Mike Abourezk, a member of the Inner Circle of Advocates.
Medical Malpractice
I have developed special expertise in medical malpractice cases. For over five years, I worked with Lloyd Bell in Atlanta — one of the leading medical malpractice attorneys in Georgia. For the first couple years, I also worked closely with Dr. Lawrence Schlachter, a retired neurosurgeon who is also an attorney. I worked exclusively on medical malpractice cases — in all aspects of cases, from initial evaluation through trial and appeal.
Over the years, I developed the approach to cases that Bell and I presented in a Medical Malpractice Master Class at Trial Lawyers University in September 2023. For more on that, see the “Medical Malpractice” page.
